It was derived from a mammary adenocarcinoma that spontaneously arose in a MMTV-PyMY (mouse mammary tumor virus promoter driven Polyoma middle T-antigen) transgenic C57BL/6 female mouse. This cell line carries the Polyoma virus middle T oncogene. |
